After many months only news and discussions, Rennsport is now in the open beta state after being reserved to the selected closed beta key holders, which brings a bit more content and clarifies the monetization model to be adopted by Competition Company from now on.
What was confirmed by Competition Company last week is that Rennsport will follow a free-to-play model with a base pack while paid DLC will be the way to include more content into the title, while mods might actually go into the route of KartKraft, where the community content will be approved by Competition Company to be included into Rennsport, given that the only the semi-fictional Orchard Road street circuit is present at the moment, although the inclusion also meant that the circuit is part of the ranked multiplayer race schedule.
The class that was included in the free pack this time was GT4, with the cars being the new BMW M4 GT4 and the Audi R8 LMS GT4, which keeps the predominance of German cars in the garage of the Germany based simulator, with only the South Korean Hyundai Elantra N TCR and the Czech Praga R1T being the exceptions.
The paid section of Rennsport made its appearance with the release of the open beta, with three levels of what’s called the Founders Pack, with more and more content depending of the investment. A track will be standard for all packs, and for all sim racers sadness, the Nürburgring Nordschleife is behind this paywall, but at least you can only spend 19.99 Euros for the Founder’s Pack GOLD to have it. The initial level of commitment also grants a badge in the profile and a car purchase credit, which is intended for future DLCs.
The next level is the Founder’s Pack PLATINUM at 39.99 Euros, where the track day focused Porsche 911 GT3 R Rennsport is added as the first paid car of the simulator with a static livery, with the an original eVIN proving you have exclusive ownership of that car, along with another pack badge and the your name in the billboard of their Founder’s Track, a Rennsport logo-shaped track to be released later.
The Founder’s Pack DIAMOND brings in a dynamic livery for the 911 GT3R Rennsport and an extra car purchase credit, as well the opportunity of having your name on the Founder’s Track virtual surface as one of the major backers of the project, as this only comes at the steep price of 69.99 Euros.
The physics were reviewed and tweaked for the launch of the open beta to improve consistency, and the rating system received adjustments too, where a combination of aspects will not only determine your Safety Rating and your RENNSPORT Rating, and will also give your account experience in the most RPG-like aspect possible, another aspect that was also in the Motorsport Games’ KartKraft.
Rennsport is available for free download in the Epic Games Store, so you just need to add it to your library.
