A few days after the
announcement of Venturi parting ways with Jacques Villeneuve, who already has a confirmed replacement in the name
of Mike Conway, another driver leaves the FIA Formula E
championship, this time being Nathanaël Berthon.
Team Aguri
announced that Berthon is leaving the team after only three races in
the 2015/2016 season, in which Berthon achieved an eighth place as
his highest finish position. After that, he had two uninspiring performances, staying in 15th and 14th at
Putrajaya and Punta del Este. It isn't certain what will the
Frenchman do in the 2016 season, but Motorsport.com speculates that
he may come back to the Le Mans Prototypes, as he comes from
ups and downs in his full season with Murphy Prototypes in the LMP2
class.
To Team Aguri, a vacant
seat was left with only two weeks to the next race of the electric
championship, the Buenos Aires ePrix in Argentina, and although a
decision about the second driver is expected to be made this week,
there isn't a sure shot of who will take the seat. Speculation
suggests that Salvador Durán, who replaced Katherine Legge in
the same Aguri squad last season may be a frontrunner for the second
Aguri seat.
While Berthon is leaving
Formula E at the moment, he wants to be back to the championship at
least at the Paris ePrix, on April 23rd, and he expects to
achieve a good result in his potential comeback.
