And today
the first LMP2 coupé made by ORECA was revealed, after various and various months with simply some CFD images revealed to the public. The ORECA 05 is
expected to be the replacement of the 03 model that is still in activity since 2011.
The first
customers that will race the new French machine will be Thiriet by TDS Racing and KCMG,
in the European Le Mans Series and
in the FIA World Endurance Championship
respectively, probably with the V8 Nissan
VK45DE engine that has powered both teams until now. The guys at KCMG didn't lost time and already revealed their livery for the coming season, and they always succeed in showing good liveries to the fans.
Future
clients are in prospect, as the extension of new car racing activities is
expected until the end of the year, especially in the TUDOR United Sportscar Chmapionship, as ORECA recently established
an American base.
In terms of
design, the ORECA 05 shares a lot of details with the Rebellion R-One, the LMP1
model developed by ORECA and Rebellion
Racing. The front section and the cockpit area both carry a lot of
similiarities. It’s worth notice that there’s some resemblance of the ORECA 03 in certain areas, like in the
sidepods, in example, where it seems to be left “almost untouched” comparing
with the open-top relative of the 05.
Everybody
will be able to see the ORECA 05 hit the road in the ELMS official tests to
occur next month at Paul Ricard.
