After Supernova Games Studios offered a glimpse of winter conditions in Assetto Corsa Rally with the Ghiacciodromo Livigno in northern Italy, the team locked in for the version 0.3 of the rally simulator, adding the famous Rally Monte Carlo with iconic stages, dynamic weather, full winter preparation and two new cars mixing past and present.
Rally Monte Carlo practically needs no presentation, being the traditional opener of the World Rally Championship, and in fact the place where all the motion started to form the WRC many decades later. Two routes made into the list as the famous Col di Turini appears in a condensed 18 km route with eight stages included, with the characteristic snow and ice being an option, while Sisteron brings the other 13 km of stages, broken down into six stages with fast and sweeping corners in narrow roads where you can either fall into a ditch or a ravine if you make the wrong move.
About the cars, only two cars were included, representing vastly different eras of rallying, as the Lancia Fulvia Coupe HF represents the Groups 2 and 4 from the 1970s, an era where the WRC was only starting and specialized rally cars were starting to appear. On the other end of the spectrum, the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 Evo represents the peak of customer racing in WRC2 these days, clearly showing what decades of technology improvement bring to the table, and despite the Fulvia and the Fabia being separated by five decades, it can be said that the targets they aimed were kinda similar, aiming for factory-supported drivers and the occasional privateers.
Stages and cars aren’t the only things included in ACR, as the winter in Monte Carlo requires a specialized equipment, so winter tires were included to face off the icy routes where the snow layer is thin but present, with the studded tires being the option for the thicker snow on the road. Along with this, ACR cranks ambience up to eleven, with the famous red flares and fireworks of the night stages as you go up and down the mountains, and dynamic weather can turn things on your favor or against you, as you can set a clear day going to a full blizzard or a snowy start to a foggy finish.
Changes to balance force feedback to all terrains, ability to set FFB to each car, refined graphics and improved gamepad support are also included in the version 0.3 update, with the full changelog in the Steam page.
