After dropping a bombshell last week with the decision to drop the Career Mode, KUNOS Simulazioni resumed the normal cycle of updates for Assetto Corsa EVO, bringing the sim racing title to the version 0.5, with nine cars, two new tracks and some improvements here and there.
The tracks included in this update are well known from the Italian developer, as Watkins Glen and Paul Ricard were present in official capacity in Assetto Corsa Competizione, and while the American track differs little to the one brought to ACC in 2022, Paul Ricard had a meaningful change in the pit entry that was never brought to ACC, requiring some extra modeling. Both venues count with extra layouts, as The Glen has two layouts for either the Boot and GP layouts, with or without the Bus Stop, and Paul Ricard has two versions of the full and short layouts, with and without the chicane at the Mistral straight.
As for the cars, the priority was road cars only, although some of them feature track versions in their upgrade packages, like the Caterham Seven 485 CSR Final Edition, one of the most powerful road cars of the manufacturer.
From Germany, the distribution is varied, with the heavily packaged BMW M2 G87 that has also the M Performance trim, and the nearly track oriented Porsche 911 GT3 RS spec 992, while Audi appears with the Sport Quattro, which was the base car of their Group B rally monster, and Volkswagen joins in the historic side with the Golf Mk 1.
For the delight of car and anime enthusiasts, the Toyota Corolla AE86 Trueno appears in various editions, from stock to tuned, and even an Initial D edition with Fujiwara Tofu Shop logotype in the door.
Finally, Italy wouldn’t be forgotten, but instead of the usual suspects, Dallara gets another car as the Dallara EXP appears as base content, instead of the semi-official e-sports oriented treatment given in the original Assetto Corsa. The EXP is a track version of the Stradale where better downforce is the focus and an extra horsepower boost was introduced.
Outside the new content and the removal of the Career Mode, the Driving Academy appears as an option, but it is now locked for revision. Within the key updates of this version comes a new logic for track limits, UI improvements in single player and multiplayer, DLSS update to version 4.5, introduction of blue flag logic and a Free Camera mode for content creation like videos and screenshots. The full changelog can be found in Assetto Corsa EVO’s Steam page.
After the version 0.5 annoucement, the version 0.6 was already teased as Sebring International Raceway and the Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo appear subtly at night.
