Motorsport Games and Studio 397 move forward with more content for Le Mans Ultimate, but while the ELMS Pack 2 DLC is another step for the new series in the title’s portfolio, what has bigger representation is the massive update to the version 1.2, which affects several areas for both single player and multiplayer racing.
In the case of the new DLC, it appears as the smallest one since LMU was released, as the ELMS Pack 2 counts with a single car and track. The car in question is the second LMP3 model of the new regulations, with the Ginetta G61 LT-P3 Evo, and since it is still developing a customer base, the British prototype counts with a single entry from DKR Engineering. As for Paul Ricard, the track that more than once held the French Grand Prix appears in its latest iteration, with the change in the pit entry being the most notable feature, while the ELMS layout has a corner that cuts the long Mistral straight in two sections, similar to what F1 used.
Aside from the DLC, the update to the version 1.2 revisits many areas to bring significant improvements. From the physics side of things, the rim becomes part of the heat distribution cycle within each wheel, which potentially affects brake and tire temperatures, while the RealRoad is revised to offer better rubber distribution and more grip in heavy braking zones in order to offer a more consistent track experience, although this accumulated rubber works against you under wet weather.
In order to benefit those with more modest system specifications, texture streaming was implement, as textures will improve as closer they are from your car, allowing better detail levels without consuming too much VRAM from your graphics card. While no one wants to crash, the damage model was reviewed too, with better details in the battle scars.
The online side of things received significant updates too, with a badge system to identify more clearly those who are good racers from the shameful rammers. Varying degrees will be applied to the drivers, as well for S397 staff, content creators and real drivers. Those on the bad side receive a warning badge, followed by a probation one before the banhammer comes.
Cheaters abusing of the system will also face more difficulties to do their things as Easy Anti-Cheat is implemented to chase down any attempts to interfere with LMU, crashing the game on the client side. Team Championships received an update in the scoring system and Engineer Mode is finally implemented, allowing those with the Engineer role to work on pit strategy to take off the load of the task from the drivers.
The ELMS Pack 2 addition leaves only a car model and a track to release in order to complete the 2025 ELMS season, as the Duqueine D09 and the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona will be part of the final pack, but Motorsport Games’ Stephen Hood makes sure that this isn’t the end of the content influx for LMU.
