Victory and RallyX Nordic title for Kristoffersson at Höljes

RallyX Nordic
arrived at Höljes to settle the 2023 season as Johan Kristoffersson and Kevin Eriksson were the contenders for the title, and ultimately it was the Kristoffersson show as he was in sync with his Volkswagen Polo RX to not only win the event, but also take the nordic title for the second time, a result of his dominant pace and more importantly, of his consistency.

Kristoffersson was imponent during the Heats, winning all of them and being the top qualifier, even if the race times would vary by roughly 3 seconds, so what happened behind him also played a part in the story, and basically every contender that could challenge was facing problems, be it interference in more than one as they were banging doors and bumpers, suspension issues and punctures. Kevin Eriksson did his best to match Kristoffersson’s pace but the Honda Civic RX was still lacking something, and even with the best efforts from Olsbergs MSE to mitigate most of the car’s weaknesses over the years, the size of the Civic would still be kinda problematic when direction change is so important like it is at Höljes.

Semifinal 1 had the championship contenders side by side, Kristoffersson starting as well as always and Kevin Eriksson turned 90 degrees into Turn 1, which allowed Veiby to stay in second for a lap until a mistake opened the door again. On Lap 4, Eriksson was set into trailing Kristoffersson when a puncture and a contact obliterated his chances for good, with only Volkswagens advancing to the Final from this race as Kristoffersson and Veiby were followed by Peter Hedström.

Belevskiy started well in the second Semifinal to hold Oliver Eriksson, and it was a cat and mouse game for most of the race until the Final lap when Eriksson started to struggle  to hold second place as a mix of recklessness and abused tires wasn’t holding the Honda Civic RX in place. Belevskiy kept it in place to win it while Linus Ostlund nearly passed Eriksson for second place.

The last Am Final of the year saw Mikko Ikonen place his Hyundai i20 RX in front of Mats Öhman’s Ausi S1 RX and held it right there as it was the Finn’s biggest worry as Maiko Tamm was recovering ground from the mess with Viktor Vranckx. Things then were leading to change as Ikonen was holding for dear life with a punctured tire until the Final Lap Joker, when Tamm finally took the lead and held Öhman for the win from third, while Vranckx himself got third place.

With the mess that was the Am Final, Maiko Tamm was the champion with 90 points over the 84 of Vranckx.

The Main Final had cars with clean performances in front, but Kristoffersson nailed the reaction time again while the Olsbergs MSE Civics went for a Lap 1 Joker, which would put half of the field behind Ostlund. Belevskiy was pressing Kristoffersson  and was faster but spun while changing direction on Lap 4, and when Oliver Eriksson took second place, it was too late as Kristoffersson  had a comfortable margin with which he could enjoy his victory
