Rallycross on snow isn't exactly new as
the Andros Trophy and the RallyX On Ice championships
keep the season rolling even when temperatures go below zero or near
that, but now the RX2 Series will also have its winter series, called
RX2 On Ice, to debut right in the 2018 winter.
The RX2 On Ice concept is simple, with
the Olsbergs MSE SuperCar Lites being thrown in a white
scenario while the event format follows the same concept of the
non-snowy RX2 International Series, currently the step to take
before going to the supercars, be it in the Euro RX or in the World
RX.
The whole series will be realized in
about a month with four rounds spread between Sweden and Norway, with
the selected venues having already some history with rallycross on
snow due to RallyX On Ice. The series starts on Februrary 3rd
at Östersund and a week later on February 10th the
destination is Höljes, home of the World RX of Sweden event. A pause
of two weeks comes because of Rally Sweden and then it's time to go
to Norway, with the third event being at Ål on February 24th,
while Gol ends the season on March 3rd.
Along with the Lites, other categories
are expected to share track time, but it still needs confirmation, as
well from other details of the competition.
