Some time
ago, it was announced that Alessandro
Zanardi will take part of the 24
Hours of Spa with other two drivers in an adapted BMW Z4 GT3, meaning it will be the first time he will share the car
with other drivers.
This Friday (24),
it was announced that the ROAL
Motorsport lineup that will tackle Pro Cup honors will be composed by
Zanardi, Bruno Spengler and Timo Glock. Spengler and Glock are DTM drivers of the BMW Team MTEK, but
with no commitments with the German-based category, they will be free to give
all they got.
One of the
challenges mentioned when Zanardi was announced as a Blancpain Endurance Series driver is that unlike his Blancpain Sprint Series campaign, where
his machine is adapted only to Zanardi’s condition, a machine that will be
shared by fully-abled and disabled drivers, will need a special preparation to make
the car available for both, as well for quick driver change in the pit-stops.
The program
will consist in three steps, as the trio will compete in the Paul Ricard 1000 and then will take
part in the Official Test as a preparation for the 24 Hours of Spa.
