United
Sportscar Championship, NASCAR Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series, and IndyCar
Series are the competitions that take the time and effort of the Chip Ganassi Racing guys. But it
doesn’t seem to be enough, they need another competition. And it’s confirmed
that this competition is the Red Bull
Global Rallycross Championship.
And to make
sure they are pretty much serious about the competition, a pair of reliable Ford Fiesta STs will be on track for
the whole 2015 season, with Canadian Steve
Arpin in the No. 00 car, while Brian
Deegan will get the other Ford, with the No. 38 on it.
A
rallycross driver needs to have multiple skills to tame the car and the
different surfaces that appear during the competition, and both Deegan and
Arpin are pretty experienced, not only in rallycross but in other racing
disciplines.
Arpin
competed on GRC in 2013 and 2014 but
his experiences in NASCAR as well in dirt track racing and even snowmobile
racing are points worth of notice. Deegan is an X-Games gold medalist, freestyle motorcross rider and usual podium
finisher in the Global Rallycross since 2011, even getting close to a title in
2012, when he lost to Tanner Foust by
only 10 points.
And, if you
miss the IndyCar battles between Ganassi and Andretti, you can take a look at
GRC as Andretti Autosport will go to
their second year of competition with double champion Tanner Foust and with
ex-F1 racer Scott Speed in their new pair of Volkswagen Beetles.
