Turner wins GTWC America race at Road America

The lead of the GT World Challenge America race at Road America passed by a lot of different hands, but Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg were the most consistent ones at the top, with the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 Evo claiming the win while other strategies failed or other cars themselves failed.
 
The No. 12 AF Corse Ferrari led the way at the green flag, with Matías Perez Companc opening a significant gap to the No. 29 Turner BMW while the No. 18 Triarsi Ferrari. Meanwhile, the No. 88 Kellymoss Porsche was stopped in the grass after a crash, bringing the Safety Car right after the start.
 
The restart did nothing to change the top two positions, but the No. 9 TR3 Mercedes took the Pro-Am Cup lead and the third spot overall, using the No. 34 JMF Mercedes as a shield from the No. 18. With the debuting No. 04 HP-TECH Ferrari finding the wall along with massive front end damage, the Safety Car intervened again, staying a bit more than 10 minutes before the race could be restarted again. Some entries burned the first mandatory stop, which handed the overall lead to the No. 64 CPT Lamborghini while the No. 99 Random Vandals BMW barely had some time in front of the No. 12 before the next neutralization came, with a multi-car contact almost blocking the Kink.
 
Nearly 30 minutes were needed to clean the track, but more movement in the pits gave the lead back to the No. 12 while the No. 6 Dollahite Ford took second place from the No. 99, which had the Pro-Am Cup lead this time. The stop in the early moments of the second hour paid dividends for the No. 6, taking the lead with 100 minutes to go while the No. 12 gave out with engine issues. The remainder of the second hour had some consistent time of green flag without changes in the top three and in the Pro-Am Cup lead with the No. 28 RS1 Porsche before an engine blow stopped the No. 163 AF Corse Ferrari, leaving only the No. 67 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari as an Am Cup entry on track.
 
Dollahite Racing’s gamble backfired in the final hour, with drive time target needing to be hit, which sent it down to third in the Pro Cup but below the overall top 10, while the No. 29 Turner BMW kept the lead for the remainder of the race, despite the constant pressure of the No. 34 JMF Mercedes, with Robbie Foley only having to bring home the BMW to secure the win.
 
The No. 9 TR3 Mercedes returned to the Pro-Am Cup in the final minutes but commanded the class as the No. 28 RS1 Porsche wasn’t around it, and the No. 67 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari kept it going and survived as the only Am Cup entry that completed the race, climbing the order to a top 10 overall.
