The LMP3 category is growing at large steps
into the competitive debut of the new class, which will be at the 4 Hours of
Silverstone, the European Le Mans Series
season starting event. Interest is already big at this point, with six teams
already confirmed. But at the moment all these six LMP3 entrants are relying on
the Ginetta-Juno LMP3 model, as it
was the first company that presented their model. LAS Motorsport announced their plans, but time will be needed to
see the finalized project, as well for the third company partnership that joins
the list.
Yesterday
saw the announcement of a new LMP3 model to be built in the USA by the long
time partnership of Ave Motorsports
and the well-known Riley Technologies.
The model will be known as AR-2.
The
Ave-Riley partnership is solid, as the AR-1 Trans Am model is real success,
having a good amount of wins in the renewed SCCA-run series. Outside of that,
Riley Technologies is very successful in other forms of racing, especially with
its fleet of Daytona Prototypes that compete in the TUDOR United Sportscar
Championship. Ave thanked for the opportunity no only to work with Riley, but
as well to be able to build a carbon-tub based car.
The works
at its Charlotte-based facilities will start in the coming weeks, but testing
and competitive debut dates aren’t confirmed. Following the steps of
Ginetta-Juno and LAS Motorsport, Ave-Riley may have the track-day variation of
the AR-2, and both can even be used in non-ACO ruled championships.
