Automobilista 2 is still on a time travel to 2005

Thinking that race cars from 2005 are old enough that they can be called classics is kind of a wild idea for those born in the 1990s, and in the same manner that happens with the GT1 homologation specials from the late 90s, these cars are deeply ingrained in the fans’ memories for a multitude of reasons, and taking notice of this, REIZA Studios decided to bring more cars from 21 years ago for Automobilista 2 in a pack called Historical Endurance Pack Part 2.

While the focus is obviously bring further depth to the 2005 GT1 and GT2 classes, the so-called GTR 2004 class got an extra car while a new single make class was brought from the archive. The GT1 cars in question have every right to be called the stars of this pack, as the Lister Storm GTM and the Saleen S7-R were not only the nemesis to the all-conquering Maserati MC12 GT1, but the ears of these fans have the best memories, because you certainly can’t ignore the sound of 7 litre V12 or a 6.9 litre V8.

The GT2 received more cars that tried to offer some competition to the Porsche 911 GT3 fleet, with the TVR Tuscan T400R, Panoz Esperante GTLM and the Spyker C8 GT2-R being the offers if you didn’t want to simply follow the trend at the time. All of them found success here and there, like the Esperante winning in the GT2 class at Le Mans and the C8 GT2-R winning the Palanga 1000km in Lithuania.

The Gillet Vertigo is known between racing game fans because of appearances in the Gran Turismo franchise, but this happened due to it being an icon from the 24 Hours of Spa, despite not having the front running pace to justify its icon status.

Out of nowhere, REIZA Studios also brought Maserati to the fray with the Gransport model, which was the car for the Maserati Trofeo, which found its way out of single make racing in national sportscar championships, like GT Brasil and Endurance Brasil.

Going back to the GT1 class, outside the DLC pack, REIZA found a way to bring one of the icons from the mid-2000s GT1 racing, as the Ferrari 550-GTS appears as Milano 55 GT1 to not trigger the fury of those at Maranello. Aside from the success with BMS Scuderia Italia, the 550-GTS became known for some characters that did from one-off races to full championships, like Colin McRae and Toto Wolff.

Along with the DLC, various classes received physics revisions to enter the version 1.7, and wet weather racing received improvements in the graphics area and on how the AI handles wet racing. This and much more appears in the Automobilista 2’s Steam page with the most recent changelog.
