A little bit of everything in Assetto Corsa EVO 0.8

KUNOS Simulazioni
seems to be taking another route with the main updates for Assetto Corsa EVO, as less content influx means more inclusions and adjustments under the hood, with three cars and a track appearing alongside more features for the SDK and improved performance.

Out of the content included in this update, only one car is a new entry in the KUNOS Simulazioni ecosystem, and if you consider that the Volkswagen Golf R Mk 8 comes after the less spicy Volkswagen Golf GTi Mk 8, you can’t say there’s a standout in the content. Unlike the GTi version’s front wheel drive, the Golf R is a four wheel drive rocket, and although you have the assists of a modern car there, you can simply turn off everything and leave the drift mode to throw the torque split further to the rear and bring a smile to your face, along with the 315 hp and 420 Nm of torque at disposal.

KTM makes its debut in ACEVO with the KTM X-Bow GT2 being its most powerful offer on the table. Still, the car is the least powerful of the SRO GT2 class, while also being the lightest, which puts it as a good alternative for those who find the regular offers of the class a bit too hard to maneuver.

The X-Bow GT4 follows the same logic, a trait shared with old Ginetta machinery where less power also means a light car overall, though with the X-Bow GT4 being below a ton, it weighs way less than most of the modern offers of the GT4 class, trying to win in the class via a different methord. Although the X-Bow GT4 was officially released by KUNOS in Assetto Corsa Competizione only, it had an official version for the original Assetto Corsa too, sourced by KTM themselves way past the official development period.

The circuit in question is Kyalami, which brings the African continent to ACEVO. The entry isn’t new as it was part of ACC’s lineup when the Kyalami 9 Hours was part of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, and although the South African circuit is better known for its Formula 1 races in its former layout, the Kyalami 9 Hours is a traditional event on its own, which puts the venue as the first alternative when the rumor mill links it with FIA WEC or F1.

Further developments in the SDK allows livery creation now, along with multiplayer support for what is made via the SDK. RAM usage management also boosted performance a bit, which helps the situation for VR users too with other features included for them. The full changelog can be seen on ACEVO’s Steam page.
