Rallycross France at Chateauroux cancelled due to scorching heat

Rallycross France was supposed to host their third round at Châteauroux last weekend, but the organization had to stop it before the Qualifying heats because of… Extreme heat.

While most championships would face problems like extreme rain, lack of snow or snowfalls depending on the competition, Rallycross France organizers had to deal with something a bit more uncommon for European events, as temperatures registered on Saturday hit 35 degrees Celsius, and with the forecast not helping in any way, as 40 degree marks were predicted until next Wednesday, they had to find alternatives to avoid the ultimate decision of cancellation.

A schedule change was made to restart the event at 6 P.M. on Saturday as temperatures would go down to allow the remotest possibility of competition, but then the prefecture of Indre intervened, releasing an official document forcing the cancellation of all activities. It was then decided to abandon the remainder of the event, which had Free Practice and Superpole completed.

It isn't something exclusive to France, even though it isn't as extreme, as other parts of Europe expect temperatures up to 35 degrees through the week, with rain expected in the next weekend, a saving grace that would reduce temperatures in around 10 degrees.

With the activities at Châteauroux cancelled, the championship table remains unchanged and the attention is moved to the next round, scheduled for Pont de Ruan on 12 July.
