Turner wins at Sebring amid JMF’s misfortune

The third round of the 2026 GT World Challenge America season was held at the bumps of Sebring, and it was a game breaker for the dominant No. 34 JMF Motorsports Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo, as its breakdown in the last hour handed the victory to the No. 29 Turner Motorsports BMW M4 GT3 Evo of Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg.

The No. 34 JMF Mercedes started well and kept the lead while the No. 6 Dollahite Ford had to fight the way to second place against the No. 12 AF Corse Ferrari, brute forcing the pass after two corners. From then on, the top disappeared in the distance to stay in their own battle for the lead.

Without getting any room to attack Michai Stephens, Alex Sedgwick relied on strategy, stopping with 20 minutes of racing to leapfrog the leader in the long run, but JMF Motorsports called the No. 34 a lap later to cover it. Cameron Lawrence hopped into the No. 6 for the remainder of the first hour, but lost contact to Stephens, with the Ford Mustang GT3 doing its second stop 20 seconds behind the No. 34 Mercedes.

Even with Sedgwick at the wheel, the No. 6 was losing time, so much that the No. 29 Turner BMW passed the No. 6 for the second place, with things staying on a status quo for a while. With 45 minutes to go, and technically within the window to go all the way to the finish, the No. 34 suffers an engine failure, limping through almost a full lap before Mikael Grenier brings the car to a halt, which handed the lead to the No. 29 Turner BMW.

It took nearly 20 minutes to clean the track, but the Safety Car intervention gave a new hope for Dollahite Racing as the No. 6 was immediately behind the No. 29 again. The problem was that Cameron Lawrence couldn’t even match Robby Foley’s pace in the final 25 minutes, which not only allowed the No. 29 Turner BMW to win the race, but also nearly handed the second place to the No. 12 AF Corse Ferrari. The No. 32 GMG Porsche was the one with the Pro-Am Cup win, with the class seeing multiple cars cycling in the top over the course of the three hours.
