Loeb is back to rallycross

It was a brief note, but this has huge importance in rallycross. It is well known that, independent of the championship hosting the Lohéac RX, it is considered a highlight of every rallycross season, generally uniting drivers from different national and regional championships and even brings drivers from other disciplines. Sébastien Loeb is no stranger to any of this, but he was away from rallycross for quite a long time, but he is preparing to return in the Euro RX/Rallycross France double that will take place in the famous French venue.

Considering that the brief note was released by the Lohéac circuit profile, it will be an one-off effort specifically for this event due to 2026 edition being the 50th one, and this mimics what Janis Baumanis does as he competes only at the Riga RX. The coincidence with Baumanis is that Loeb will be back in a Peugeot 208 WRX, but the coincidence ends here as Eleven Motorsport will be team responsible for Loeb’s car. The team is well known in Rallycross France, but also made the news in the 2025 World RX season, with Andreas Bakkerud driving their 208 WRX in order to create reference data for the Equivalence of Technology between RX1e and Supercars.

Versatility is a characteristic of Sébastien Loeb as his rally prowess is, with the nine time WRC champion having at least tried his luck is most disciplines within motorsport, with rallycross being a small but intense part of his career, in special in the 2010s. From the outrageous winning debut in Global Rallycross to the World RX wins with Peugeot Hansen, he always demonstrated front running performance.

He was supposed to extend his World RX career even more when he signed to drive with Special ONE Racing in 2023, but with the incident at Lydden Hill consuming most of the team’s equipment and the cars, this effort was cut short, with his dedication being split between rally and rally raid.

Considering that Loeb has two podiums in four appearances at the Lohéac RX, he is expected to remain a front runner due to the fact that he will drive a car he knows pretty well, and with his podium rate being of almost 50%, it would take a really bad day for him to be out of place in his rallycross return.

The Euro RX and Rallycross France double at Lohéac will be held on 30 August. While no event specific entry lists were released, Euro RX starts the season at Riga with 30 cars, while Rallycross France kicks off at Lessay-Manche with 15 supercars.
