Jansson beats Grönholm to win the Sunday at Tierp

Casper Jansson
went all out on the FC2 platform as means to step up from Supercar Lites to the top level of rallycross, and his winning performance on Sunday at Tierp has put him as a serious candidate for the RallyX North title.

In what was a rougher Qualifying with lots of bumping and barging as the dry track allowed it, the neat performances were the differential, which put Timmy Hansen on top of the standings, with Niclas Grönholm in second and Lukas Andersson in third. Overnight leader on Friday, Emil Sivesind couldn’t repeat the feat and sit in sixth, while Saturday winner Viktor Kristensson was behind him in seventh.

Despite this being his first outing in an FC2, Timmy Hansen was the favorite for the first Semifinal, and while Oliver Eriksson was pressed to the wall, Adam Öhman outsmarted Hansen but had to settle for second. Hansen soon was out of reach and won comfortably, while Öhman had Andersson on his back bumper until the finish line.

Semifinal 2 had Casper Jansson in front while Niclas Grönholm was on the chase, leaving Romet Tsirna to defend the third position from Viktor Kristensson. Grönholm went for an early Joker and soon recovered the second place. Jansson made his life harder by tapping the barrier, but even though Grönholm had better pace, attacking Jansson wasn’t worth the risk, so first and second remained unchanged, with Romet Tsirna having a more of a gap to keep the third place.

The Final had Jansson with the advantage again, and when Hanssen tried to barge his way into first, he met the barrier before, leaving Grönholm open to attack Jansson. With 2 laps to go, everybody bar Jansson had the Joker done, but he had the pace advantage to back him up and secure victory for him.

While Viktor Kristensson couldn’t be in the Pro Final, he had a textbook drive to win the Am Final.
