Rytkönen and Turpeinen join SET Promotion’s Euro RX program

SET Promotion, a team with decorated history in the FIA European Rallycross Championship, is stepping up to a full season program again, and this time, they come with a two car operation involving different cars for two Finnish promises.

The drivers that will join the team for 2026 are Juha Rytkönen and Joni Turpeinen, both with recent history and impressive performances in either the Euro RX or the World RX. This combines two separate operations into one unit, as Turpeinen was competing in Euro RX under an independent entry and joined the World RX finale in Türkiye for a one-off entry with PGRX, while Rytkönen was already racing for Patrick Guillerme’s squad, stepping up into World RX in 2025 after a sample in 2024 and some seasons in Rallycross France.

Rytkönen’s World RX campaign in 2025 saw him generally in the top 5 spots, being in general the only driver with enough skill to challenge the RX1e machines with an internal combustion Supercar, all despite the disadvantages that the spec had compared to the now defunct electric spec. This was proved specially at the KymiRing, where he had a podium performance on track, only for the stewards to penalize him with two extra seconds for contact, sending him to fifth.

Turpeinen went for a partial Euro RX campaign after being crowned RallyX champion at 15 years old, and his first continental campaign didn’t disappoint. His highlight was the spectacle that he and Lucas Andersson offered at Höljes, with both at 16 years old leading the final in the pouring rain, only for a crash at the Joker to send Turpeinen down to fifth in the end, but this was more than enough to get him in a PGRX seat for the Türkiye finale in both Euro RX and World RX, with the young Finn barely missing on a World stage podium in his first outing.

None of their cars will change for the upcoming season, with Rytkönen driving the usual Hyundai i20 RX while Turpeinen keeps his Ford Fiesta ST RX.

Since the Euro RX titles that SET Promotion lifted with Anton Marklund in 2022 and 2023, the Finnish team didn’t appear in the top class, appearing more in support classes while also taking care of the CEDT World RX program along with PWR. Since the RX1e is done, they are shifting towards their own top class operations since the they were confirmed as one of the four  squads present in the Hypercar class in RallyX Americas.

Along with their own program, SET will also support Andreas Bakkerud’s entry with Bergen Motorsport Evolution, and they keep their commitment to support classes, having already a program in the new RX4 class in Euro RX, as well being available for Supercar class programs in RallyX Americas, which will likely be the case for RallyX Europe.

The Euro RX season starts on 10 May at Riga, with other drivers like Patrick and Ollie O’Donovan announcing programs for the season, along with Anton Seppä and Nils Volland, all of them with very recent Euro RX experience, while Patrick himself is an European champion looking for a second crown this year.
