Lamborghini shows the face of the Temerario GT3

The weekend of the Goodwood Festival of Speed also saw Lamborghini finally showing exactly how the next GT3 car in line will be, with the Temerario being revealed in full race trim ahead of its debut in the near future.

First of all, the Temerario GT3 marks a departure of a powerplant that was kind of the soul of the departing Huracán GT3, as the aspirated 5,2 liter V10 engine will go silent after 2025 and a new twin-turbo 4 liter V8 unit will take over. Following the approach taken by Honda with their NSX GT3, Lamborghini had to find a way to convert a hybrid road going car into a race car, for which they didn’t have to worry that much, since the combustion engine is responsible for the majority of the power of the road version of the Temerario, so the common 550 horsepower figure would be within reach.

Despite the shared components, the Temerario GT3 gets a lot of adaptations to be rule compliant that detach it from the road car, like smaller turbos and an engine preparation to bring more performance within a broader rev range, and most components of the chassis and bodywork were designed for quick installation and removal, including the lights system, since most parts that compose the endurance kit won’t be in the car for the whole time depending of the championship it takes part. In fact, even the floor is separated in four different pieces and its center can be taken off on the pit lane if needed.

Although the Temerario GT3’s visual language doesn’t depart that much from the Huracán GT3 and other Lamborghini models, some work was done to improve aerodynamics under braking and turning, keeping the car more planted on the road. The single duct at the bonnet reminds more of a refined version from the one seen on the first generation Huracán GT3, while the roof scoop that a characteristic of the Huracán Super Trofeo, STO and GT3 Evo2 is gone, with the engine cover having a clear depression right on top of the engine, reminiscent of the 90s Lamborghini models and without the plethora of openings from the Huracán family, as the side intakes will compensate for it.

The idea is that the Temerario GT3 will debut at the 2026 Sebring 12 Hours, which might indicate that appearances in the GT World Challenge and the 24H Series might come later in the year along with other racing series. Until then, although the car has a shape and specs confirmed, it will be kept under development by Lamborghini Squadra Corse until its competitive debut.
