Amid what appears to be a lengthy process of reorganization, the FIA World Rallycross Championship loses another event of its 2025 calendar, with the visit to the United Kingdom and the streets of Coventry being totally discarded.
BARC Midlands confirmed in a statement about its 2025 activities that the World RX round set for Coventry was cancelled, despite the best efforts from the entity and the BARC to bring the event to life. The event has been planned since last year, with a track layout around the city’s ring road being proposed by Kevin Hansen and designed by Driven International, which also included a visit from the Hansen World RX Team driver to the proposed site of the event.
Along with the World RX, the Coventry Motofest Sprint, which was a more guaranteed presence in the city, was also cancelled, with BARC Midlands moving on with its sprint events to Cadwell Park and Snetterton.
At the moment, the 2025 World RX season will start at Lousada on 4 May as Nyirád will suffer a date change as the Czech Autocross Championship got the World RX date. After this, only Höljes is confirmed for 6 July as Istanbul Park and Australia remain as doubts, while KymiRing gave the World RX date to RallyX Euro and Canada was previously announced as cancelled.
