With 2025 getting closer and closer, the start of the FIA World Rallycross Championship season was also getting closer without any movement from all the involved parties, and with the challenges that a promoter change includes, the season opener at Trois-Rivières was cut off the calendar, with eyes for 2026.
The circuit administration released a statement explaining that the Canada RX will be canceled due to circumstances beyond their control, but the door is open for a return in 2026 with the same ice race format that was supposed to be used in 2025.
With flyaway rounds requiring anticipation of at least a month in terms of logistic operations and the FIA still in the middle of a tender for a new promoter, there would be no time to send cars and equipment from Europe to Canada.
For the fans that got tickets for the event, the reimbursement process started this week and for the World RX, the season start returns to Nyirád, in Hungary, in mid April, which should give plenty of time for the new promoter and also for current and prospective teams.
