Bakkerud commands the Nitrocross Saturday at Utah

DRR JC Monster Energy Dodge
were on top of their game during the whole afternoon of Nitrocross at the home of the championship, the Utah Motorsports Campus, with Andreas Bakkerud barely outpacing an also inspired Robin Larsson to return to the path of the victories after a season long drought.

Heat 1 saw the field split in half on the route selection, only for Fraser McConnell to barge into the lead at the expense of Andreas Bakkerud’s ideal line, but Bakkerud still was in a good position as McConnell had a Joker to do, sliding into the lead right when the Jamaican left the Joker, and from this point the Norwegian had complete control of the race, winning by a tiny margin but with pace to spare.

Heat 2 had more cars, and while the favorites took the standard route, Oliver Eriksson and Lia Block took an early Joker. Robin Larsson had the control of the actions, even though he chose a Final Lap Joker, while Oliver Eriksson had to settle for winning the battle for the runner-up spot with Tanner Foust.

Semifinal 1 had Bakkerud leading Eriksson with Viktor Vranckx and Conner Martell keeping a close watch for the argy bargy moments in front. Bakkerud kept showing the good pace from the Heat 1 while Vranckx bumped Eriksson out of second place as he had the pace to pass but not the room to do it without some contact.

Semifinal 2 had McConnell leading a tight pack with no more than 2 seconds from leader to last. But by leaving the Joker to the final lap, the Jamaican had Larsson applying pressure, which eventually worked in favor of the Swede, and with clean air , he was unstoppable as McConnell couldn’t catch him.

The LCQ had three cars wanting the two final spots to the Final, and while Lia Block was in a good run from the Joker on Lap 1, a tap in the barrier ruined her chances and opened the way for Tanner Foust and Oliver Eriksson to just manage their cars to the finish, with Foust winning the race while Eriksson kept a tight margin from second place.

The DDR JC Monster Dodge  cars were in control of the front row in the Final and Bakkerud led Larsson in the initial run while Martell was leading the chasing pack. The status quo was kept until the Final Lap and even with the Joker Lap to do, both cars would beat Martell in the run to the flag, with Bakkerud staying in first while Larsson settled for second as he lost his window where he had more pace.
