Back to Bakkerud with Utah sweep in Nitrocross

Once Andreas Bakkerud got back to winning ways in Nitrocross after the Round 3 at the Utah Motorsports Campus, nothing seems to be able to stop him, as the Norwegian outpaced Robin Larsson again to win his second event in the 2024/25 season to keep the DRR JC Monster Energy Dodge domination.

Heat 1 saw Fraser McConnell go to the Joker on Lap 1 and still get away with the lead while Conner Martell was attacking the Jamaican as means to gain advantage and protect himself from Kevin Eriksson. Once Martell and Eriksson did their Joker Laps, it was clear the advantage was on McConnell`s side and it didn’t leave him until the finish line.

Heat 2 had a repeat from Saturday’s Final wih the DRR JC Monster cars in the front row, but while Andreas Bakkerud was comfortable in the lead, Robin Larsson was about to get cornered by Oliver Eriksson with Tanner Foust and Viktor Vranckx just behind waiting for a mistake. Once all drivers went to the Joker, Bakkerud and Larsson showed clear domination of the field, going straight for the 1-2 finish.

In Semifinal 1, Robin Larsson had the better start but had McConnell with the Joker done right at his back wing. McConnell was going for the overtake but Larsson placed his car exactly where the Jamaican couldn’t find room to push, holding onto victory by a tiny margin.

Bakkerud had a great start in Semifinal 2 to hold Martell and Oliver Eriksson, and the top two were in a personal battle while the Team OMSE driver had the Joker done and was waiting for a gap. Despite some close battles, the order stood where it was, so Bakkerud was followed by Martell and Oliver Eriksson.

The LCQ had Foust beating Lia Block in the initial run while a subpar Vranckx was trying to catch up with them to join the fight. A bit of contact with Block sent Vranckx to a spin, and while Foust had total control of the race to win with authority, while Block got enough gap to Vranckx to secure the second LCQ  spot to the Final.

The Final had more DRR JC Monster in front, but this time both cars were leading a five car pack in the gap jump on Lap 1, and with Martell having already done the Joker Lap, Bakkerud and Larsson would leave it for as late as possible. Martell then went for the offensive and showed his car on Larsson’s mirrors, which actually pressed Larsson into Bakkerud with a Joker to do, While Bakkerud was in a safe gap from the first place, Martell barged into Larsson’s door, only to be turned to the wall in the final corner for second place, so Oliver Eriksson inherited the third place from the stationary Martell who had the bad luck to be in a cloud of dust, so Lia Block accidentaly hit the stopped car.
