Flying Lizard switches to BMW in GTWC America

The FANATEC GT World Challenge America weekend at Virginia made Elias Sabo, Andy Lee and the folks at Flying Lizard Motorsport rethink things to continue in the series, and the final decision was to switch machinery, which made them bring a BMW M4 GT3 for the remainder of the season, starting at Road America.

The whole process started with what happened between the races of the VIR round, where the team felt that they were at a huge disadvantage with the Balance of Performance changes applied to their Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, opting to pack up things and forfeit the second race of the weekend.

The M4 GT3 is the most used car in the GTWC America grid, with five cars set to appear at Road America, including the Lizards one, and it showed great results during the season, as it has four Pro-Am Cup race wins spread between ST Racing and Turner Motorsport, even though it lacks a Pro Cup win this season. The Canadian squad is in contention for titles in both the Pro Cup and Pro-Am Cup despite completely different scenarios.

As for Flying Lizard, despite staying in the overall top-10 in roughly half of the races, having a bit more than a third of the Pro-Am Cup leader's points means the remaining three weekends will be more about getting tips to become more competitive in 2025.

The Road America weekend of GTWC America will be held on 17 and 18 August, with one of the biggest grids of the season with 16 cars set to race.
