While the 2025 season was majorly confirmed, the next FANATEC GT World Challenge Europe calendar needed some polishing that was dependent on decisions regarding the current rounds, and last Sunday (28) was the day to confirm the 10 rounds in the schedule.
The Jeddah 1000 km that is set to close the 2024 season was a focal point in the initial announcement made at Spa-Francorchamps, with SRO opting to see how the event would fare to confirm its continuation in the calendar, but in the end the decision was to not return to Saudi Arabia after 2024, with Barcelona changing its status from Sprint Cup finale to Endurance Cup finale, being consequently the last race of the entire season.
And with Barcelona back to the Endurance Cup, SRO needed an alternative to fill the Sprint Cup gap, and while Magny-Cours and Hockenheim were set to be dropped at the expense of Zandvoort and Valencia, the Nevers circuit will stay to be the third round of the Sprint Cup and the seventh of the combined calendar in early August, with Valencia becoming the Sprint Cup finale In mid September to close the schedule with a Spanish tour, which also means the Iberian country will be the only one with back to back rounds next season.
It’s important to notice that, with the Jeddah 1000 km dropped, the Paul Ricard round regains its 1000 km format after becoming a regular 3 hour race last season.
