An extra Sigma P1 G5 for Motorcar Racing

Sigma P1 Engenharia
is certainly in a busy season as the Araricá based constructor delivered another Sigma P1 G5 prototype just ahead of the Goiânia double header that will count as rounds 4 and 5 of the 2023 Império Endurance Brasil season, as Motorcar Racing finally moves to an all-Sigma lineup.

The race winning No. 444 entry was switched from the JLM Racing AJR to the Sigma P1 G5 this year, but the No. 11 entry was still honoring the long time commitment with the model created in 2017, but this week the switch was announced by driver Emilio Padron, who will be joined by the equally long time team mate Fernando Ohashi and youngster Arthur Gama, meaning there will be no changes in the lineup.

Their actual challenge at Goiânia will be getting up to speed with the new machine, even though the Sigma P1 G5’s dynamics doesn’t differentiate that much from the JLM Racing AJR, but considering that the P1 class has grown massively and the pace difference between the top contenders is getting smaller, any misstep will have considerable consequences in a high pace track like Goiânia.

On the other side, if their consistency translates quickly to the new car before the pace, they might strike lucky amid the Brazilian midwestern heat, as the teams will opt for a marathon-like conservative pace with a late sprint to not fry the equipment as temperatures will be near 40 degrees Celsius at most, and since the first race on Friday will finish at noon, this one will be especially a strategy game as no one will want to mend things before the second race on Saturday.

Both races of the Goiânia double header will be three hours long, with the Friday race starting at 9 A.M. local time (1 P.M. GMT) and the Saturday race starting at 2 P.M. local time (6 P.M. GMT).
