A promise is a promise, and as so, it needs to be done, and this is exactly what Travis Pastrana and Nitro Circus did with the 2022 Nitro Rallycross calendar, as the championship still has firm roots in North America, but it starts to stretch its branches to the rest of the World.
After quite a long time of silence in regards to the calendar, the option chosen was to go to a half-season schedule, so you can actually call it a 2022-2023 calendar, but with the championship going back and forth between the North American and overseas rounds, some time to get things right needed to exist.
While most slots only have a date and a country, the locations of the ten rounds are already decided before the June start, which will also mark the first season start outside North America, being consequently the first overseas Nitro RX event.
The first time lights go green will be at the iconic Lydden Hill Circuit in Great Britain, putting international rallycross on the Kent-based facility for the first time since 2019, when Titans-RX visited it.
July and August will feature rounds in Sweden and Finland before a full month of break to return to the United States, with Minneapolis and Los Angeles receiving events in October and Phoenix having a round in November, while a trip to Saudi Arabia in December ends the 2022 part of Nitro RX and its international part. 2023 starts with two Canadian rounds in Quebec and Alberta, and in March the championship moves back to the USA to hold the season finale in March.
While further details aren’t confirmed, every Nitro RX weekend is expected to have the full spectrum of classes that are under its wing along with the supercars, like the NRX NEXT with its OMSE Supercar Lites and the new Group E class, made only of the electric OMSE FC1-X made in conjunction with Spanish firm QEV Technologies, just like the OMSE RX2e car, with the #GoNitro moved to the Group E with A SHOC Energy being the sponsor, though the goal remains the same, which is bringing superstars from other disciplines to have a go at rallycross.
