Quick action gives Misano Race 1 win to WRT

Racing can be defined by a single move in a short moment, like in any other sport, and WRT made use of it when it mattered to not only put the No. 32 Audi R8 LMS Evo on top but also to bring the No. 31 car to a Belgian 1-2 the first GT World Challenge Europe race at Misano.

The surprise of the qualify was the pole position of the Silver Cup entrant No. 15 Tech1 Lexus while the No. 107 CMR Bentley was alongside as the top Pro Cup car, and despite the best efforts from Jules Gounon, the Lexus was still in front with Thomas Neubauer at the wheel. Behind that, Benjamin Hites tried to hold the No. 89 AKKA-ASP Mercedes in a strong position, but contact came when he engaged in battle, a wheel was damaged and the yellow flag was called.

The brave effort from Neubauer secured the No. 15 ahead until the pit window, but CMR outsmarted Tech1 and the No. 107 took the lead, while the No. 15 had a radiator problem and was left limping on the track until it came to a halt in the team garage.

The green was back with eight minutes to go, leaving the No. 107 Bentley having to be defensive, but the No. 32 and 31 Audis from WRT were quick to act and take the top two positions, leaving the No. 107 with the No. 4 HRT Mercedes. With the pair of Belgian Audis controlling the front and the No. 107 defending the podium position, it was the No. 32 WRT Audi that got the victory with authority in the final minutes.

The No. 26 Sainteloc Audi conquered the Silver Cup by basically surviving all perils that happened in the race as most of the class field was wiped out at some point, and the No. 93 Tempesta Ferrari got the Pro-Am Cup win in what was a tight contest in the final moments.
