ESMotorsport calls Nitiss for World RX return

After more than a year without major news, Lithuanian squad ESMotorsport decided it was time to get back to FIA World Rallycross Championship, with current free agent Reinis Nitiss being the selected driver for the return to action.

The announcement was made this Tuesday (25), just informing that Nitiss was set to compete at the Riga RX, his home event, in the Skoda Fabia EVO RX that ESMotorsport is developing. Nitiss was without a full time drive since 2019, when he was called by GRX TANECO to drive the third Hyundai i20 RX at selected events, which is currently set for Krisztián Szábo and Juha Rytkönen, and as the scenario repeated in 2020, Nitiss made a switch to rally.

As for ESMotorsport, the team had multiple drivers in their debut campaign in 2019 with a single Skoda Fabia RX, as Rokas Baciuska and Kevin Abbring delivered results for the team, while François Duval and autocross ace Matvey Furazhkin were also in the seat, but even splitting into multiple names, the team missed the Silverstone RX and the Canada RX.

With the season over, ESMotorsport focused only on testing to improve the Fabia EVO RX and scouting drivers for the future, and before Nitiss’ announcement, the team’s plans was to select the name out a few for the 2021 season, which the team will attack full time again.

The Riga RX will be the last double header of the 2020 season, to be held at the Bikernieki Track on 19th and 20th September, and not further plans are expect for ESMotorsport and Nitiss.
