Citroen C3 makes joins Ford Fiesta in Projekt E roster

Initially being a competition of a single model, it appears that Projekt E will have its own flavor of variety, as the Citroën C3 ERX becomes another option for the upcoming electric rallycross series.

As it is the case of the Ford Fiesta ERX, the Citroën C3 ERX is entirely built and prepared by STARD, which is taking care of Projekt E as a whole, though the base of the C3 comes from the C3 R5 rally car, and while converting rally cars for rallycross is one of the oldest aspects of the discipline, converting a petrol-powered rally car to an electric rallycross machine makes the C3 ERX the first of a kind.

One of the ideas behind the new plan of conversion to electric power in rallycross is the possibility to convert any petrol-powered machine into electric without major effort being put into the chassis adaptation, and this is quite the upgrade, as the R5 car has 280 HP, and while the four wheel drive stays there after the conversion brings the STARD REVelution powertrain with three electric motors delivering 613 HP with 1002 Nm of torque coming from the go.

While the C3 ERX is assembled by STARD, the support given by Citroën to the project extends to a level that spare parts for the car can be acquired via the Citroën Racing Shop, with the whole car having a price of 374.000 Euros.

Despite the fact that the teams committed to Projekt E announced the Ford Fiesta ERX as their car of choice, as it has the longest development time, it is expected that at least one example of the Citroën C3 ERX will be in action at the series’ debut at Höljes on 22nd and 23rd August.
