A class that was introduced in DiRT 4 makes its debut in the hardcore part of the Codemasters’ DiRT franchise, as two cars are brought in to start the Group B rallycross class in DiRT Rally 2.0.
For those who are new into rallycross or know only the supercar era, after the demise of the Group B cars in rallying, these monsters found their way into other forms of off-road motorsport, like cross country rallies, hillclimb races and, yes, rallycross. They were part of the Division 2 class at that time and lasted until 1992.
The first two cars representing this spec were an integral part of this era, as the Ford RS200 Evolution 2 and the Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2 were fighting on the limit thanks to names like Marin Schanche, Matti Alamäki, Seppo Niitymäki and lately Liam Doran’s father Pat Doran. Alamäki dominated the Euro RX at that time with the 205 T16, but Niitymäki and Schanche have Euro RX titles, and Schanche also has a British Rallycross Grand Prix win.
The Group B Division 2 era had no limit on horsepower like the current Supercar rules, which allowed figures until near 700 horsepower in the Ford RS200 and 510 HP in the 205 T16, so the figures of 450 HP in the RS200 and 480 HP in the 205 T16 may prove disappointing, though playing with the setup of those cars can make things quite fun, as driving is really different of the modern machinery.
Along with the RS200 and the 205 T16 rallycross cars, some DLC Season 2 themed liveries were released for free to Deluxe Edition holders, but for those still needing to acquire them, each car can be bought separately for 1.99 Euros.
