TF Sport joins FIA WEC grid

British outfit TF Sport is enjoying some good success in the continental scene in recent years with Aston Martin, with British GT, Blancpain GT Series and in the European Le Mans Series in the LMGTE class, but now comes the next step for the Tom Ferrier-led squad, joining the world stage in the LMGTE-Am grid of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The car to be used in the 2018/2019 Super Season is the same Aston Martin Vantage GTE that gave the team the second place in ELMS’ LMGTE class in 2017 with most of the lineup returning to action as Turkish Salih Yoluç still has the company of Euan Hankey behind the wheel, with Charlie Eastwood joining as the third driver.

Yoluç and Hankey have some good time of partnership with TF Sport machinery as most of the competitions of the team were done with this lineup, while Eastwood adds some GT racing ability to the trio by having conquered the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain title in 2017 against strong opponents like Dino Zamparelli and Dan Cammish, and although having a Porsche Cup title, Eastwood retained his Silver driver status in the FIA Driver Ratings, so this counts as a very nice trump card in the lineup.

TF Sport joins Racing Team Nederland as the announced movers from the European scene to FIA WEC, as the Dutch announced its car but driver confirmation is still pending. TF Sport also awaits confirmation of its entry, which may be announced in the FIA/ACO press conference event later on.
