Until the last season Davy
Jeanney was an active member in the FIA World
Rallycross Championship grid with the Team
Peugeot-Hansen, but left without a drive, the Frenchman was
absent from the world stage, at least until the Estering RX,
the penultimate round of the 2017 season.
Jeanney will again drive in a Peugeot
208 WRX, although instead of the Hansens he will go
with the Dubourgs as DA Racing recruited him to
substitute Jean-Baptiste Dubourg, as the main driver of the
squad will extend his leave due to personal reasons. Former WRC
driver and Mettet RX wildcard François Duval got the honor to
drive the DA Racing Peugeot in the last event at Latvia, but didn't
go past the qualifying heats as he lacked the adaptation to the
Bikernieki circuit.
A runner-up finish in the Euro RX in
2013 and two wins with an extra podium in the World RX in 2015 are
credentials of what Jeanney can do, and he admits that being
practically the same car he drove almost a year ago counts as an
advantage. His expectations are high for the Estering RX, hoping to
reach the semifinals, but he also recognizes that what he watched on
track this season demonstrated how much the level raised since his
last participation.
The Estering RX will be held on
September 29th, and Jeanney reached the semifinals in his
last participation at the German circuit, which was won in style by
Kevin Eriksson.
