Since the popularity of rallycross got
a significant increase thanks to the boom of World RX and
attempts of championships were made in South America and Australia,
being them successful or not, the question was to when the Asian
market would appear with an idea for a rallycross event or a
championship. and the time has come finally as the JRX Exhibition
Match is the starting point in the continent and in Japanese
lands.
The venue for the event will be the
Ebisu Circuit, a complex that can be called a temple for
drifting and touge, in special due to the events held in the south
course like the D1GP. The West circuit is being prepared as a dirt
section will be added to the current asphalt race track, which should
have 1,5 kilometers, including a Joker Lap section.
About the event format, the grid for
the Qualify will be decided on a time attack of four laps without a
Joker, while the Qualify will have the same four laps with the Joker
being mandatory, although the event documents don't confirm the
number of heats. After this comes the 5-lap semifinals where the top
cars go to the final, followed a GRC-style Last Chance qualifier of 4
laps where the top two advance. The final will be a straightforward
race of six laps to decide the event winner.
The JRX Exhibition Match is expected to
have three classes, being one for production cars, called RX-P, and
the other two being the unlimited ones, called RX-D1 and RX-D2. The
RX-P will have engine displacement limited limited to 2000cc and the
cars must be 2WD, with specific tires from Yokohama and Dunlop to be
used. The RX-D1 is also limited to 2WD cars while the RX-D2 is for
AWD cars, and outside safety and cost effective regulations, there is
no restrictions for them.
The JRX Exhibition Match will be held
on November 14th, and further information can be found in
the Ebisu Circuit website, in Japanese.
