After a long time of national GT
programs in Europe, the Lexus RC F GT3 will finally get some
mileage in the Blancpain GT Series as Emil Frey Racing
will enter a single Japanese car in the Sprint Cup season finale at
Nürburgring.
The Switzerland-based squad selected
the Spaniard Albert Costa and the sportscar ace Stéphane
Ortelli for the Pro Cup entry in the upcoming double header, and
although the lineup seems quite capable, Hannes Gautschi, Emil
Frey's technical coordinator, opted to not create high expectations
towards the Blancpain GT debut of the RC F GT3, treating the event as
a test for the capabilities of the car in the championship.
The Emil Frey RC F GT3 started is
European journey in VLN in Germany and after that started competing
in the International GT Open with Costa pairing up with Philipp
Frommenwiler, so not only the car was put under test into endurance
racing but also in sprint racing conditions, so the team is ready for
what lies ahead at Nürburgring. Also, the three convincing wins this
season in GT Open out of five of the model were more than enough to
justify an entry elsewhere.
The last weekend of the Blancpain GT
Sprint Cup will be on September 16th and 17th
while their pair of Emil Frey Jaguar G3s will likely complete the
season in the Endurance Cup race at Barcelona on October 1st.
