GruppeM Racing and more
specifically the No. 999 Mercedes AMG GT3 became an
unstoppable force in the second race of the Blancpain GT Series
Asia at Fuji Speedway, with Maximilian Buhk and Hunter
Abbott dominating from lights to flag as competition was simply
left behind.
Once the green came the No. 999 GruppeM
Mercedes powered its way to the lead with the No. 39 Spirit of
Race Ferrari in fierce pursuit, with the No. 6 Audi R8 LMS Cup
car keeping a close distance from the lead fight. Max Wiser in the
No. 39 soon changed from attack to defense once the No. 6 started
the attack, almost succeeding at one attempt.
The No. 999 started to go away thanks
to a series of fast laps by Maximilian Buhk while the No. 39 had its
worries behind it, eased by a charge of Rui Aguas in the No. 38
Spirit of Race Ferrari once he goes past the No. 6 Audi. Aguas
was specially good at Turn 1, and it was there where he left Wiser
behind for second place, pulling away little by little.
The pit window wasn't good for the No.
38 as the Spirit of Race cars had their places reverted, and to add
more trouble the No. 5 Audi Hong Kong car took third with
Marchy Lee at the wheel. The same car started to attack th no. 38,
failing pretty much like the No. 6 earlier while Hunter Abbott was
just cruising in the No. 999 GruppeM Mercedes as no threats appeared,
having the checkered all for him at the finish line.
Am Cup honors were again for the
No. 27 X-One Lamborghini while Clearwater Racing was
again a class on its own in GT4, winning with a huge margin to
the No. 89 HubAuto Porsche. The next stop will be Shanghai on
September 23rd and 24th.
