It's still middle 2017 and the
new-for-2018 LMGTE racer was already revealed, as the new BMW
M8 GTE was shown making tests at Lausitzring this week.
Works drivers Martin Tomczyk and
Maxime Martin took part in the tests of the new car, which was
aimed to get a general feel of the new machine, still camouflaged and
with more work to do to get complete. Initial feelings about the car
were pretty positive from the drivers, specially regarded to
handling, but any more details about the first test remained on
closed doors.
After wrapping up things at Lausitzring
the BMW M8 GTE will go to further runs in various circuits around
Europe and North America, the targets of the factory program to be
run by MTEK in the FIA World Endurance Championship and
by RLL in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.
