The seventh round of the FIA World
Rallycross Championship at Höljes, Sweden, is not only a popular
meeting that attracts lots of spectators, but is also seen as a good
chance for wildcard entries from home and nearby areas to show up and
test everything they have against the worldwide competition, which in
the case includes a return of Swedish squad Olsbergs MSE to
the championship.
The team owned by Andreas Eriksson left
the championship at the end of the 2016 season, electing to focus on
the Honda-backed program in the Global Rallycross Championship with
the Civic Coupé model, although it still had some support deals with
some World RX teams like MJP Racing Team Austria and other
sporadic entries that use their trusted Ford Fiesta ST RX
models, along with support for the RX2 Cup car, their SuperCar Lites
machine which is also used in the United States.
By the way, the Fiesta ST RX that gave
them the teams' title in 2014 will be their choice for the return to
Sweden, with Sebastian Eriksson and Oliver Eriksson
selected to drive the pair of machines available. Sebastian returns
to the World RX after participating of the Swedish round in 2014,
reaching the final in the event, while Oliver is a complete newcomer
in the World RX scene although he isn't new to the almighty
supercars, given the fact that he is Sebastian's team mate in
Olsbergs' Honda effort.
According to Andreas Eriksson,
he will be back to Sweden so he thought on entering in the Höljes RX
in order to present the event to a sponsor and to develop the Fiesta
ST RX a bit more to give a future help to his customers.
