Probably the biggest
revolution in the scene of racing games this year was seeing Porsche
being added to titles like Forza
Motorsport 6 and the announcement of
the German manufacturer coming to Assetto Corsa. Although we already know that we
will see 24 models being added in the sim, only a few are confirmed,
including the free cars that will be available.
In the middle of a
lot of teasing which included even the new for 2017 Porsche
911 GT3 Cup racer, Marco
Massarutto, licensing project manager
at KUNOS Simulazioni,
confirmed on Twitter a few days ago that the three Porsche cars that
will be available as a free content will be the 2016 versions of the
Cayenne, Macan and the Panamera. Somehow this follows the same trend
of the most recent release for Assetto Corsa, as the Red Pack DLC had
the launch of the new Maserati Levante S
as the no charge achievement, making the SUV roster more interesting
with a bit more options to put on track.
Even for those
without that much interest to go a bit off the line and play with
bigger cars, the Cayenne
should at least attract the curiosity of the Assetto Corsa community
due to its long history, since Porsche’s gaming past is geared
towards GTs and prototypes, and those who drove the Cayenne in the
sim will be willing to compare it to the Macan.
The Panamera
is like a midway point between the sport cars and the SUVs, making
the super saloon a class of its own in the title, like the Levante S
currently is.
The release plans
were confirmed for late September but then were pushed to October,
and with the lack of an official announcement, we can only wait for a
certain date of the first of the three packs as well for the season
pass.
