It’s known even
before the release of Project CARS
that Slightly Mad Studios
weren’t gone mad in terms of a realistic approach to the title,
calling some professional race drivers to help in the simulation
department like Ben Collins, Nicolas Hamilton and Oliver Webb. But
the list can be bigger, so SMS called German all-rounder René
Rast to help in the matter.
Rast is a real match
to aid in Project CARS as he competed in many types of machinery,
contributing in several classes. If you get only this season and the
past one, Rast was in the cockpits of a hybrid LMP1
(Audi R18 e-tron Quattro), an LMP2
machine (ORECA 05), an electric open wheeler (Spark-Renault SRT01_E),
a single make touring car (Audi Sport TT Cup) and the one he uses the
most, a GT3
racer (Audi R8 LMS), due to his commitments with the teams that are
part of the Audi Sport Customer Racing.
Also, the Audi works
driver has some good virtual mileage, as he showed in his videos of
his YouTube channel, with the the LMP2s and GT3s he drives in real
life as well formula cars and other prototypes, so he may already
have a thing or two to indicate to improve the experience.
Here is a sample:
It’s unclear if
Rast’s consulting services would mean any extra cooperation between
SMS and Audi
on Project CARS, which has several cars, like the 2014 R18 and the R8
LMS Ultra GT3, both already replaced in real competition.
