Since
last December, some of the cars became public knowledge and some had
a few cautiously taken shots to make the fans and media explode in
curiosity. Now we are almost in April, and with the FIA World
Endurance Championship season about to start, the 2016 LMP1
cars will eventually be revealed next week, according to the
Automobile Club de l'Ouest.
Audi
will start the party with the presentation of its team and the 2016
version of the R18 e-tron Quattro on March 22nd 1
p.m. UK time. The new machine was already seen in action but it was
still in its typical black based testing livery, being the event to
come to show the final shape of the car and its official competition
colors. You can watch the live stream of the event at audimedia.tv.
Then
will be the time of Audi's earliest FIA WEC rivals, as Toyota
will finally the completely new TS050 Hybrid model, until the
moment hinted via some heavily blurred shots and the new Gazoo Racing livery. Their presentation
event follows the same pattern of previous seasons, as they leave to
uncover the Japanese machines before the FIA WEC Prologue tests at
Circuit Paul Ricard in France, being the date March 24th,
and the time 9:30 a.m. UK time.
Not
that much later, the Porsche
Team, current 24 Hours of Le Mans winners and FIA WEC
champions, will present the 919 Hybrid in its updated version
to the current LMP1 specs. A heavy load of tests were made in the new
car, with Porsche not minding to show it to the fans on social media,
although the car seen being tested may not be the final version of
the 2016 racer. Another thing that is bringing curiosity in this one
is the new livery, which may some changes compared to what was used
until 2015. The event will be held on March 24th at 1p.m.
UK time, but photos of the new machine will be available a day
earlier on Twitter.
