While the Asian Le Mans Series
is still stopped as the next race will be only in January, some
squads are confirming the final details to tackle the 3 Hours of
Buriram, this round of the 2015/2016 season, and Eurasia
Motorsport finally confirmed how they will make presence in Thai
soil.
In fact, Eurasia’s bet will be on
young drivers like some LMP2 class teams are doing lately,
with the No. 9 ORECA 03R, which is the one used in the 2015
European Le Mans Series season, to be driven by Antonio
Giovinazzi and Sean Gelael, and the double will also bring
the KFC - Jagonya Ayam backing to the car.
The pair is going to their first drives
in a Le Mans Prototype in a competitive way, as both careers were
essentially based on open-wheel racing. Gelael is currently coming
from a debut season in the Formula Renault 3.5 series combined
with some drives in GP2, both of them for Carlin, with na eighth
place finish as his best effort in the season. Giovinazzi in the
other way is a proven talent who fought for the title of the FIA
Formula 3 Championship with Swedish ace Felix Rosenqvist, winning
six races and achieving twenty podiums in his campaign driving for
Carlin. Also, Giovinazzi did an appearance in DTM replacing Timo
Scheider, although the lack of experience in the powerful Audi RS5
car paid its toll.
The first car will still count with the
same drivers as Richard Bradley and William Lok will drive the No. 99
ORECA 03, and the advantage in numbers may prove to be in Eurasia’s
favor in the provisional four car field of the LMP2 class, as Race
Performance and Algarve Pro Racing will return to action with single
car entries.
The 3 Hours of Buriram will occur on
January 10th, 2016.
