After
tests realized in Sebring this month, Extreme
Speed Motorsports decided to not race with the pair of new HPD ARX-04b models they have in their
hands.
The
decision was made in conjunction with Honda
Performance Development after the car presented some issues related to its
homologation, as well not presenting the desired results to the team present in
the airfield circuit, in a similar way to what happened with Strakka Racing and its Dome
S103, which parked the team for the whole 2014 season.
In fact,
with the homologation of new models for the 2015 season of the FIA World Endurance Championship needing
to be done one month ahead of the first race, and to not rush things for HPD
and to not let Tequila Patrón ESM parked for the whole year, the ARX-04bs will
return to HPD for further development, ahead of the 2016 season, when it’s
expected that the model should be available for customers.
In the
meantime, Tequila Patrón ESM will race with the open-top pair of ARX-03b models they already have as a
temporary solution, as the 12 Hours of
Sebring will be in a short amount of days.
The ARX-03b
will used too in the FIA WEC Prologue, as well in the 6 Hours of Silverstone, and from the 6 Hours of Spa to the rest of the championship it’s expected that
ESM will campaign a pair of Honda powered Ligier
JS P2 models, due to ESM’s relationship with the Japanese manufacturer.
The ARX-03b
gave ESM their sole victory in the TUDOR
United Sportscar Championship last year, at Laguna Seca, as well two
podiums in FIA WEC, at Austin and at Shanghai.
