Champions
of the Pro-Am category in the Blancpain
Endurance Series last year, Villorba
Corse is extensively known for its GT programs, always using a Ferrari 458 GT3. But in 2015, the
Italian squad steps up on the Le Mans Prototype ranks, as they are the newest
owners of the Ginetta-Juno LMP3
model, to be used in the European Le
Mans Series.
The LMP3 effort
is part of a program called “Road to Le Mans”, with the goal to take Villorba
Corse to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The program is a partnership between Villorba Corse and its new partner
Pharmanutra, and was conceived by Pharmanutra’s CEO Roberto Lacorte, who will be one of the Ginetta-Juno LMP3 drivers,
alongside Giorgio Sernagiotto. Due
to the partnership, the team will be known as Cetilar Villorba Corse.
But the
adoption of the LMP route won’t make Villorba Corse cease their GT activities,
as they will continue to compete in various fronts with their Ferrari. But winning
in the new LMP3 class won’t be easy, as various Ginetta-Juno teams will be
there, as well LAS Motorsport and customer teams using the Ligier JS P3 and the
Riley-Ave AR-2 will be entering in the near future.
