Past years
saw new GT3 racers take the end of the year to test their new machines to start
customer programs right after it. Bentley
succeeded in that part with the Continental
GT3 model, finishing fourth in its debut race, the 2013 edition of the Gulf 12 Hours. Few months after that,
the british GT3 racer collects victories and customers at various fronts. Same
thing is expected to occur with the new-for-2015 McLaren 650S GT3, as the factory team finished third in the 2014
edition of the Gulf 12 Hours, and the Woking-based model already has its
customer base to deal with.
But this is
not expected to happen with the new Cadillac
ATS.V-R GT3, as the American company expects to reserve the whole 2015
season to its factory campaign in Pirelli
World Challenge, as the reason is to prepare the new GT3 racer to a future
customer racing support plan. The ATS-V.R GT3 is currently in testing phase
ahead of the 2015 PWC debut at the Circuit
of the Americas.
At the
moment all that is confirmed is the factory homeland effort with two cars, to
be driven by Andy Pilgrim and Johnny O’Connell, but Cadillac Racing’s David Caldwell didn’t
discarded future plans for international outings like the Nürburgring 24 Hours, explaining that it all depends of the marketing side to give a go to international racing.
