It is well
known of the public since past December that Ibanez Racing will return to the European Le Mans Series after a five-year break of ACO ruled
competition, when they ran a Courage
LC75-AER LMP2, as they bought a pair of ORECA 03 models that were expected
to be used by Millenium Racing in the
2014 season of the FIA World Endurance
Championship, but never hit the track outside the Prologue tests.
Also, is
known that Wolf Racing Cars, a light
prototype specialist, announced near the end of 2014 on Twitter that they will
be on ELMS in 2015, as part of a long term plan.
Well, where
Ibanez and Wolf histories are linked? They will join forces to compete in the
2015 ELMS season, as well in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Ibanez
Racing was testing their yellow and black ORECA 03R models at Motorland Aragon, featuring Wolf’s Ivan Bellarosa and even the ex-Toro
Rosso F1 driver and DJ Jaime Alguersuari.
The
cooperation between Wolf and Ibanez Racing will see their ORECA 03R models
being renamed as Wolf GB08 LM, in
the same way as the Signatech-run Alpine
A450b, which is a renamed ORECA 03R. After 2015, is expected to Wolf Cars
to become an LMP2 manufacturer too, as they will start to build what is dubbed
the Wolf GB Tornado.
In the
drivers department, one of the cars has all of its drivers confirmed,
as both owners Ivan Bellarosa and Jose Ibanez will have the company of Pierre
Perret. The other ORECA has only Jordan Perroy as the confirmed driver, and
there’s no clue if Alguersuari will race for Ibanez Racing or not.
