With the Extreme Speed Motorsports 2015 program
confirmed, and with the first tests with the new HPD ARX-04b set to occur this month, the only thing that was left
to decide was about the driver lineups to the two entries for the World Endurance Championship and the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance
Cup.
Danish David Heinemeier Hansson and American Jon Fogarty were confirmed as the
drivers that will join Scott Sharp, Ed Brown, Ryan Dalziel and Johannes van
Overbeek. Heinemeier Hansson will join Dalziel and Sharp in one of the cars,
while Fogarty will be alongside Brown and van Overbeek in the other.
Heinemeier
Hansson was driving the No. 95 Aston Martin Vantage known as “Dane Train” that
conquered not only the 24 Hours of Le
Mans, as well the World Endurance Championship, in the LMGTE-Am class. But
before that, Heinemeier Hansson drove the Morgan
LMP2 model for OAK Racing and Conquest Racing in the FIA WEC and the American Le Mans Series, so the Danish
driver and programmer will add lots of knowledge to the project.
Fogarty was
doing a part-time campaign in 2014 due to the retirement of the GAINSCO/Bob Stallings squad of the Unted Sportscar Championship due to
Memo Gidley’s accident in Daytona, so he was limited to some races with Action Express Racing in their second
Corvette DP. He has extensive
experience in Daytona Prototype machinery, but he raced once in an LMP2 car,
being that the Black Swan Lola
B11/80, that by coincidence had a Honda engine.
It is
expected that the new Honda LMP2 car to have an intense schedule of tests even
before the ROLEX 24 at Daytona, in January, when ESM will have both chassis in house
and ready.
