KCMG returns to GTWC Asia

Years of absence from the SRO competitions meant that KCMG could focus in a lot of different disciplines and specs, but the team announced that will be returning to the FANATEC GT World Challenge Asia for the whole 2023 season.

The announcement came this Monday (13), where it was confirmed that the Hong Kong team will have a Honda NSX GT3 Evo22 for the whole season with team owner Paul Ip having the company of long time KCMG driver Edoardo Liberati. Liberati was part of the last campaign that KCMG did in the Asia GT scene, when the series still had the Blancpain GT Series Asia name, being the last team to run the Nissan GT-R GT3 on an international level as the Intercontinental GT Challenge was also included in their schedule.

Since the end of the partnership with Nissan, KCMG`s GT racing programs were switched to Porsche, with the standout event being the 24 Hours of Spa, where the team would feature at least one lineup full of factory drivers. With no further plans for the year being announced and KCMG having history of dealing with different manufacturers at once, this one-off GTWC Europe appearance remains a possibility.

Ip always split himself between managerial and driving roles and is well versed into KCMG`s new machine as he did some races in the Campionato Italiano di GT and represented Hong Kong in the FIA Motorsport Games last year.

The GTWC Asia season will start on 13-14 May at Buriram, in Thailand.
