REIZA Studios gave a final push just before Christmas and delivered some content to Automobilista 2 with an update to end the year on a high note, bringing another part of American racing culture that was missing in the title - stock car racing. While other cars do appear in another pack, stock cars take the center stage with another track for them.
It is well known that REIZA Studios has a liking for American racing, and the Racin’ USA DLC pack already offered this on the open wheel side of things with an extensive pack of models, but regarding stock car racing, Automobilista 2 had no sign of this content appearing despite having some oval tracks, and even having ovals that are considered exclusive territory for stock cars, like Daytona, for example.
Things started to change when a leak recently revealed the content that was released this week, as the Stock USA spec is split in four different classes to cover around 40 years of modern NASCAR Cup history, with the Stock USA Gen1 being representative of the 80s machinery while the Stock USA Gen2 reflect the 90s cars. The Stock USA Gen3 is the current NextGen chassis, while the Stock USA Le Mans is the Garage 56 variation of the NextGen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 that competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with all adaptations included to be competitive at La Sarthe.
Not only REIZA Studios moved mountains to bring American stock cars to Automobilista 2, but the pack also has a track, as Pocono adds to the list of superspeedways in the title, but there is more than just the triangle oval that had NASCAR and IndyCar, but also a bunch of different road course configurations, with some using the roval layout, while others use only the oval straights with the infield, and a few layouts use the infield only. The pack also brings a classic layout to the already included Auto Club Speedway.
Along with the stock cars, a number of road cars was brought in the Supercars Part 2 DLC, as the Maserati GT2 Stradale, Dodge Viper ACR and the Audi R8 V10 GT to the Supercars class, while the Aston Martin Valkyrie integrates the Hypercars class, and out of these cars, the Valkyrie is the only one that appeared in another sim racing title before Automobilista 2.
Track day enthusiasts get more than the cars too, as the Touristenfahrten is added to the Nürburgring Nordschleife 2025 DLC, as the layout that treats the Green Hell as a public road couldn’t make it to the initial release.
Physics, audio, graphics and UI received significant updates in the version 1.6.9, in special the initial phase of the UI rework and also optimization of the temporal anti-aliasing to be more efficient in the players’ systems, with the full changelog being in their Steam page.
